How to finance your upgrade
From consultation to completion, here is how Connecticut families finance energy upgrades at 0% interest through Energize CT.
Step 1
Project review and program matching
Your HCP advisor reviews your project scope and matches you with the right financing program. Three options are available: the 0% HES Payment Plan, the 0% Energy Conservation Loan, and the Smart-E Bundle at 4.99%.

- What you do: describe your goals
- What you get: program recommendation
- Scope assessmentWe walk through your planned upgrades — heat pumps, insulation, air sealing, or a combination.
- Program comparisonYour advisor explains each financing option — interest rate, term, loan amount, and payment method.
Step 2
Eligibility and qualification
We determine eligibility on-site based on credit, income, and utility account status. Many families qualify for 0% interest with no credit check required on the HES Payment Plan.

Step 3
Loan approval and scheduling
Once approved, your loan is locked in and your project is scheduled. Payments do not begin until the work is complete, so there is no cost while you wait.
- What happens: loan finalized
- What you do: sign loan agreement
- What you get: scheduled project date
- Loan confirmationYou receive written confirmation of your approved amount, rate, and term length.
- Project schedulingWe coordinate installation dates that work with your schedule — typically within a few weeks.
- Rebate coordinationYour HCP advisor files Energize CT rebates so they reduce your total loan balance before payments begin.
- Payment planningFor HES Plan and some Smart-E loans, payments are added to your monthly electric bill — no separate bill.
Step 4
Project completion and inspection
Our team installs your upgrades — heat pumps, insulation, air sealing, or whatever your project includes. A final inspection confirms everything meets program standards.
- What happens: installation day
- What you do: be home for the work
- What you get: completed upgrades
- Professional installationLicensed technicians handle every aspect of the upgrade — no subcontractors.
- Quality inspectionA post-installation check confirms all work meets Energize CT program standards.
Step 5
Summary report and payment start
You receive a complete project summary showing the work performed, rebates applied, and your final loan balance. Payments begin on your next billing cycle at the agreed rate and term.
